Daily Positive Affirmations. Today is a day of happiness and peace.

Every day can be a day of happiness and peace, if that is what we choose. Often, finding inner peace can feel like it is impossible. Like it is only something for the guru on the mountain top to achieve. That is how it felt to me for many years. I would have elusive moments of peace, only to have them slide away again.

Meditation and yoga are tools that have been used for thousands of years for finding inner peace. I have found them to be useful in my own life too.

In one "ah-ha" moment on the mat I realized that peace isn't something that we can hold onto. It isn't about pushing or grasping. Peace is the true nature of who we really are. It is all the things that we clutter our minds with that are unnatural, that take us farther and farther away from our true nature. When we let go of all the things that we think and worry about, then we can return to our natural, peaceful mindset.

Cultivating inner peace isn't about becoming anything new or different. It is simply about remembering who we truly are, and separating ourselves from our thoughts. Through meditation and yoga we are reminded that we are not our thoughts. We are the watchers of our thoughts. The more we can remember that, the more peaceful we will become.
