Morning Affirmation

Morning Affirmation: I am the creator of my destiny.

The truth is, our life is always in our hands. When it feels like someone else is in control of your life, it is because you have given them that control at some point in the past.

Each day, we have the choice to take back control. It is something we have given, and if it isn't working out the way we had planned, we can take control again.

Living life for someone else too completely is a dangerous thing. It makes us codependent on the relationship, and we come to rely on others to meet our deepest needs.

The desire to be cared for is so strong because it is hardwired into our DNA. When we are born, we are helpless children, completely reliant on our parents to meet our needs.

Our childhood relationships set the template for our future relationships. When our needs go unmet in childhood for care and connection, we continue to seek that as adults. We feel incomplete.

In order to feel complete, we need to learn to meet our own deepest needs. When we learn to do that, we stop putting our need for care ahead of the need to take control of our lives.

We are no longer children. We are capable of going into the world alone to take care of ourselves. As we come to realize that, we become less reliant on others to meet our needs. We stop clinging.

As we stop holding on so tightly to others, we stop taking on their expectations for us as well. We are able to self-determine our destiny.

By meeting our own needs instead of relying on relationships to complete us, we take back control of our own lives.
