It is time to let go of all the regrets and mistakes of the past. You can't change them by endlessly ruminating over them. As you have thought things through, you have come to a greater understanding of yourself and what is important to you.
We are constantly in a process of refining our priorities and values. As we learn better, we learn to do better in the future as well.
Beating yourself up about the past is just punishing yourself again for something that has already hurt you. The natural consequences were enough to make you realize you shouldn't do that again.
It is time to forgive, to release, and to let go of the pain of the past. You don't live there anymore. Thinking always about the past keeps you from fully living in the present.
Give yourself the same kindness and compassion that you would give to someone that you love. Forgive yourself the same way you would forgive a child. You are learning, just as a child does.
Compassion and love start with yourself. Treat yourself with the same love that you give others, with the type of love you most desire. Only then can you begin to heal.
