My Year in Review 2022

Every year, at the end of the year I think back on the previous year and all the things that I have done all year, and decide if I have accomplished all my goals. I usually do a long journal session, then make a vision board, and write up my new goals for the new year.

This year has been a wild ride, with our move to Germany from the US. We had to get rid of everything that we had except for a few boxes that we shipped. Then we put our clothes in suitcases, stayed a month with a friend, and flew out to Germany.

Once we landed, we stayed in Frankfurt for several months with my partner's mom while we were house hunting. Then, we found a wonderful property with two houses. One for us, one for Gary's mom. It was a perfect fit.

We put in an offer for the house and did all the required paperwork. Then, we moved into our fully-furnished house. We started to make it our own, and did some remodels for Gary's mom's house. Then, finally right before Christmas all our stuff arrived from the US and we started unpacking.

We have also done a bunch of sightseeing, from going to the Frankfurt Palmen Garten, to a German Renaissance festival, and visiting ancient castles and churches.

Our house came with bikes, so we went on some wonderful bike trips along the Weser River where we live.

I also was able to go back to the US to spend some time visiting with my oldest daughter, Atlantis, and some of our friends in the US. I was graciously hosted by the same friend who let us stay with him before we left the US.

Then, to finish out the year, we we had our first Christmas in Germany. And we got to spend some time visiting with our new friends until late in the night, the day before Christmas eve.

In addition to being able to move to Europe and spend time touring around, I was also able to write full-time most of this year. It really has been a blessing being able to do that.

This year, I wrote 3 new books, which I have for sale on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. It was a great experience to be able to write them, and I hope that all of you have enjoyed them as well.

In addition to writing books, I have been blogging of course, and trying to acclimate myself to life here in Germany.

There was only one of my goals that I didn't meet this year: Learning to speak German fluently.

It has proved to be more difficult than I anticipated, and when I took the A1 Intensive class in Frankfurt, I didn't get as much out of it as I had hoped for. I still need to practice more, and hopefully attend another class in 2023.

This is the goal that I am carrying over into next year from this year.

Additionally, I would love to be able to do some more traveling this year, and write a couple of more books. I already have drafts started for 4 of them, including one about our first year in Germany.

How did your year go for 2022? And, what are you looking forward to in 2023? Let me know in the comments!
