September 2023 is National Yoga Month

September 2023 is National Yoga Month. This is a great time to learn more about yoga. You can start a new yoga practice if you have been thinking about it, or you can deepen your practice if you are already doing yoga.

When you do yoga on a regular basis, it can help to transform your body, your mind, and your life. There are many physical, mental and spiritual benefits to having a regular yoga practice. It can help you reduce stress and become more physically fit.

But yoga is more than just what takes place on the mat. Yoga also has a way of changing your mindset in powerful ways too.

According to Wanderlust, here are some ways that you can take the lessons you learn from Yoga off the mat this September:

1. Take your practice somewhere new.

2. Give the gift of yoga.

3. Challenge yourself.

4. Surround yourself with your yogis.

5. Take a mindful minute.

6. Write it out.

7. Fuel your body.

8. Go green.

9. A little less buy, a little more DIY.

10. Spread love.

All of these activities can help you to be more mindful in your daily life, and to have a happier and more holistic life. This can help you to bring the lessons of peacefulness and harmony that you learn onto the mat into your day to day life.

When you practice yoga, it can help you to live your life in a more intentional way. Yoga is very similar to mindfulness and meditation, and can help you connect more deeply to yourself, others, and the world around you. You can find a feeling of peace on a personal level, which leads you deeper into yourself and your inner being.

As you deepen the spiritual connection within yourself through your yoga practice, it can help you to feel a sense of love and compassion within your heart as well. This can help you to feel more compassion for others who are suffering in the world, and a desire to be of service to them.

The better you take care of yourself, the more able you will be to connect with others too. Yoga has so many benefits, it is a great way to do something good for yourself and your health.

You can also get your kids to do yoga with you as a fun activity, because yoga is great for kids health, too. They have fun with all of the different poses, especially ones with animal names like downward dog, cat, cow, or cobra. They can enjoy looking like their favorite animal, and getting active with you.

All of these are ways that you can look to start a yoga practice this September, or to deepen the yoga practice that you already have.

Starting out with yoga is as easy as following a 10 minute tutorial video on YouTube, and all you need is yourself and a mat. You can even do yoga with a chair if you have trouble sitting on the floor. You don't need to have any specific fitness experience, memberships, or expensive equipment.

I hope that you can enjoy celebrating National Yoga Month by giving it a try for yourself! Who knows, you may enjoy liking your yoga practice and looking forward to it the way that I do with my own.

If there are any questions I can help you answer about getting started with yoga, feel free to let me know in the comments, and I can write about it in a future blog post.
