Today's Tarot: Three of Swords



When you receive the Three of Swords in a reading, it is indicative of heartbreak, emotional pain and loss. Likely, this came out of the blue, making it feel like a difficult shock to endure. Someone may have said something very hurtful to you, and it feels like you can't endure the pain.

It can be said that at times, pain can be our greatest teacher. If someone's words have hurt you, take time to grieve, surely, but then look beneath the surface to examine why this hurt so much. Have they triggered a limiting belief within yourself? Is there work that you can do inside to make something like this less triggering the next time around?


A relationship can be irreparably damaged by careless words, however, this pain can be temporary. Remember that when someone says something hurtful, it is more about their unhealed wounds than it is about you. It can be difficult to show some grace and not take things personally, but that is what you will need to do to move forward in this situation.


Take some time to feel your feelings and honor yourself. Don't shove down your grief or it will only resurface again later. Take time to cry or journal it out. Scream as loud as you can. Whatever it takes to process the pain through your body and your soul. When you allow yourself to feel your feelings completely, you can then release and move past them.


Don't stay stuck in a state of heartbreak. The pain will fade with time, and with healing. Take time to talk to a friend or a therapist of need be. Releasing heartbreak can be difficult to do on your own. Just make sure that you aren't internalizing what was said to you in terms of negative self-talk.


Use this pain as your teacher. Allow what is broken inside you to heal, so that you can be more whole than you were before this happened. Release limiting beliefs around this situation so that you can move forward into a brighter tomorrow, as a more whole and healed version of yourself.
