Kindness is one of the most important forces on earth. When we are kind and gentle with people, we give them the opportunity to blossom and become their best selves.
This is true for being kind and gentle with yourself as well. It is important to extend ourselves the same kindness that we give to others. As care takers, this is especially important, because it allows us to give ourselves the same treatment we give to others around us.
Kindness and love are the foundations of compassion. When we act from a place of kindness, love and compassion, we will be happier day by day.
Holding anger, resentment, or upset feelings toward ourselves and others can cause a lot of inner pain. As we learn to be kinder to ourselves and others, it helps that pain to heal.
Think of treating people the way you would treat a very young baby. Everyone loves babies, and their innocence. We don't attribute motive to their actions. We just allow them to be as they are.
When we allow ourselves and others to be as we are, we stop feeling so many perceived slights. We stop thinking that people have done something out of a bad motivation. We stop judging.
That is what it means to be truly kind, it is to give the benefit of the doubt to others motivations.
